Inguinal Hernia: Diagnosis, Treatment and Surgery

Hernia or inguinal hernia is a condition wherein a tissue protrudes itself from a spot in the abdomen. It is usually quite painful with pain waves coming in every time one coughs or tries lifting a heavy object. A doctor would normally recommend a surgery for Hernia treatment in Gurgaon.

Here are a few symptoms which may lead you to require hernia surgery in Delhi:

- A swelling near the pubic bone area which bulges with coughs and strains

- Ache / burn in the swollen area

- Swelling and pain in the testicles

Diagnosis for Hernia treatment in Gurgaon:

A doctor would usually check for the bulge / swelling near the groin area. In case of the swelling not being prominent, a CT scan, ultrasound or MRI may further be recommended.

Treatment for Inguinal Hernia:

In a situation where the hernia isn’t very prominent, the doctor may just advise you to wait, as more often than not, a supportive truss helps relieve the pain. Only if the hernia is in a worrisome stage, a surgery will be employed. There are two broad categories of hernia surgery in Delhi:

- Open Hernia Repair

- Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery

Open hernia repair:

This is a simple procedure which involves the surgeon making a small incision near the groin area to thwart the tissue back into the abdomen. This is a very common surgical procedure and ensures a faster recovery.

This process is also known as keyhole surgery for hernia. A minimally invasive procedure, the surgeon would insert a laparoscope, which is a tiny camera, into the abdomen, and using the video feed from the camera and some equipment, the surgeon aims to treat the hernia with a synthetic mesh. This reduces post-operative scars and discomfort, and also helps the patients return to normalcy faster.
